Pet of the week - Teddy

A real little gentleman

From pound puppies to purebreds, Patch spotlights dogs who enjoy what Shoreline/Lake Forest Park has to offer. For some dogs, like this week’s pet Teddy, they need a loving and safe home.

The 6-year-old tri-colored Pomeranian mix was rescued from a kill shelter in California by Ginger Luke's Death Row Dog Rescue. These sorts of shelters euthanize more than 2,500 dogs every single month within 24 to 48 hours of them surrendered or dumped off. Ginger, a Shoreline resident and owner of Greenwood’s Rickshaw Restaurant, has rescued more than 3,500 dogs since January 2006.

Teddy, a playful 12-pound ball of fur who can sometimes be shy, is waiting for a forever home. A great little gentleman, he gets along with people of all ages and other dogs, but he has not been around cats before. He has a cute little under bite is ready for nice long walks, car rides and just sitting on someone’s lap.

Once under Ginger’s care Teddy was groomed, including an ear cleaning. Under a vet’s care he was dewormed, microchipped and had his shots, including rabies and Bordatella, plus he was tested for heart worm. Now he is ready to go to their forever home.

Teddy’s adoption fee is $495 that covers his neuter, shots, dental work, grooming, microchip, boarding fees, health certificate and transport expense.

Even those who cannot care for a rescue dog can help dogs, like Teddy, by donating to  Ginger Luke's Death Row Dog Rescue, a 501 C 3 organization, to help pay the vet bills and save these dogs who have been through so much. Foster homes and donations of leashes, collars and crates are also needed.
