Pet of the week - Smiley

His smile makes you smile

From pound puppies to purebreds Patch spotlights dogs who enjoy what Shoreline/Lake Forest Park has to offer. For some dogs, like this week’s pet Smiley, all they need is a loving home.

The 4 year old golden & cream Pomeranian is 12 pounds of fun. He was saved from a puppy mill that was closing down by Ginger Luke's Death Row Dog Rescue. He felt so lucky, the first thing he learned to do under Ginger’s tender care was to smile.

He gets along great with people, including gentle kids, and other dogs. He has not been around cats.

Once with Ginger Smiley was groomed, including an ear cleaning. Under a vet’s care he was neutered, dewormed, microchipped and had his shots, including rabies, updated. Now he is ready to go to their forever home. His adoption fee is $550 to cover his vet care, transportation and care.

Ginger, a Shoreline resident and owner of Greenwood’s Rickshaw Restaurant, has rescued more than 3,500 dogs since January 2006.

Even people who cannot care for a rescue dog can help dogs, like Smiley, by donating to  Ginger Luke's Death Row Dog Rescue, a 501 C 3 organization, to help pay the vet bills and save these dogs who have been through so much. Foster homes and donations of leashes, collars and crates are also needed.
