Pet of the week - Gideon

From pound puppies to purebreds Patch spotlights dogs who enjoy what Shoreline/Lake Forest Park has to offer.

This week’s pet is Gideon, a 4- or 5-year-old black lab. We first met Gideon at his Lake Forest Park home that he shares with the Elliott family.

Gideon came to the family through a friend in Maltby whose neighbor had found him traumatized on their front porch four years ago. The pup had been in a fight with another, much larger dog, and was cut up pretty badly. The finding family nursed him, put up posters and waged an Internet campaign to find his owner.

When the Elliotts heard of the lab’s plight, and saw the smile he always seems to have on his face they offered to house him while the search for his owners continued.

The Elliotts know why he was lost—he enjoys running and jumping over fences.

Now settled in with his new family, Gideon goes on family road trips and particularly enjoys the rented beach cottage vacations where he runs on the beach.
