Grand Opening Set for Shoreline's Second Off-Leash Dog Park

The area will be dedicated July 13.

Shoreline dogs will soon have a new place to run when the city’s second permanent off-leash facility opens next month.

A dedication and grand opening ceremony is set for July 13 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the site of the new park, on the Fircrest campus at 1760 NE 150th St.

"Shoreline's quality of life is enriched by the wealth of recreation opportunities our beautiful and abundant parks offer --ball fields, a skate park, tennis courts and playgrounds, to name a few," says Dick Deal, director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services. "Adding places for dogs to play without leashes builds on that by offering another way for the community to enjoy its parks."

The grand opening comes three years after the Shoreline City Council passed an ordinance to approve both Shoreview and Richmond Beach Saltwater Park Off-Leash Areas as permanent sites.

Shoreview Off-Leash Area will remain a traditional site open daily throughout the year. The Saltwater Park Off-Leash Area remains a seasonal site from Nov. 1 to March 15. Other off-leash dog areas are being researched for implementation in other areas of the city.
