Grab your buckets and shovels as the Fifth Annual Sand Castle Contest, an integrated part of the Celebrate Shoreline festivities, will take place this Sunday (August 21).
This free event, located at Richmond Beach Saltwater Park, will last from noon until 3 p.m., although registration begins at 11:30 a.m. Enjoy time with friends and family as you construct or observe the construction of sand castles and delight in live music. The contest welcomes all ages to participate. Additionally, free refreshments will be provided, compliments of Northwest Family Chiropractic & Massage.
As in any contest, there will be members from the local community serving as judges, including at least one member from the Shoreline Arts Council to help judge castles on aesthetics. Prizes will be awarded as follows:
1st Place Overall: $100 to Hill’s Neighborhood Restaurant
2nd Place Overall: $75 to Full Moon Thai Cuisine
3rd Place Overall: $50 to Swannie’s on the Alley
Family/Adult Honorable Mention: $20 to Spin Alley
Teen Honorable Mention: $20 to Spin Alley
Kid Honorable Mention: $20 to Spin Alley
