Local Olympian – Ariana Kukors – Promotes Healthy Living

LIFEWISE AND OLYMPIC SWIMMER SHARE GOAL OF ENGAGING PEOPLE IN HEALTH AND FITNESS

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, WA – July 10, 2013 – Local health partner LifeWise Health Plan of Washington is excited to team up with Olympic swimmer Ariana Kukors (@ArianaKukors) – world record holder and Auburn, Wash. native – to promote the importance of making healthy living a priority through her new honorary role as director of health inspiration. By sharing her inspiring story of hard work and determination that ultimately led to achieving her Olympic dreams, Kukors will encourage people in the Pacific Northwest to take the next step on their health journey and live healthy, active lives.

“Empowering others to be active is important to me and I love to inspire others to set their goals a little higher and dream a little bigger,” said Kukors. “This relationship with LifeWise allows us to work together on our common goal of encouraging people to take steps toward healthier living. It doesn’t matter how big or how small those steps are, every step counts!”

Kukors, who competed in swimming for the University of Washington from 2007-2008, fulfilled her dream of representing the United States at the 2012 London Olympic Games, finishing fifth in the 200 individual medley (IM). This milestone for the 24-year-old was elevated after she narrowly lost her chance to attend the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games by eight one hundredths of a second four years prior. With the current world record in the women’s 200 IM under her belt, Kukors looks forward to utilizing her background to help others achieve their healthy living goals – an area in which she is particularly passionate. LifeWise believes this new alliance will provide an innovative opportunity to engage Pacific Northwest residents on their health journey through the relatable personal story of a local Olympian.

“Both LifeWise and Ariana share a strong commitment to being a health support partner and this new relationship is just one of the innovative ways we’re engaging with people from the Pacific Northwest to encourage them on their health journey,” said Jim Havens, vice president and general manager, LifeWise Health Plan of Washington. “Her authentic story of hard work and determination moves people and we feel she is a natural extension for our health and wellness engagement efforts.”
