Tens of Thousands of Dollars Stolen from Commercial Fisherman

The following blotter items range from November 9, 2012 – November 13, 2012. Information on arrests is supplied by the Shoreline Police Department. The reports do not indicate a conviction.

 

On Tuesday, November 13th, an incident report about embezzlement was taken at approximately 1:00pm from the 20400 block of Dayton Avenue North.  A commercial fisherman stated that from January 2012 through October 2012, a bookkeeper (suspect) stole tens of thousands of dollars from him. 

The fisherman works on a fishing boat in Alaska.  He hired a bookkeeper to handle his personal checking, savings and other fiscal matters while he was away. The man gave Power of Attorney rights to the suspect.  The bookkeeper used this privilege to make many unauthorized withdrawals from his checking account and credit cards.

November 9

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES:  An incident report was taken from Costco at 1175 N 205th Street at roughly 7:10pm. A person told police officers that he/she received a strange email from an uncle who is associated with organized crime.  The person who shared this news with officers was scared and took the email as a threat from the unknown parties.

November 10

FOURTH DEGREE ASSAULT:  A suspect slapped a victim in the face causing pain to the victim.  This happened at a private residence in the 19300 block of Firlands Way North at close to 7:20pm.

VANDALISM AT ST. LUKE’S:  A glass door at the gym was broken at 322 N 175th Street.

November 12

LARCENY at PHO TIC TAC:  There were items taken from a 2000 Mercedes ML at approximately 2:30pm.  A man (the victim) and his son drove to a Vietnamese restaurant at 14515 Aurora Ave North.  The man parked his car in a public lot when he noticed an older style, yellow, car with a middle aged person.  The victim believes that the person in the yellow car was the suspect who smashed the window of the Mercedes and stole items.

LOST PROPERTY AT BLAKELY APARTMENTS:  A person who lives in the 1100 block of N 192nd Street found out that a $40,000 ring was missing.  He/she suspects larceny. 

EMBEZZLEMENT at MADHATTER CHIMNEY:  An employee used company property on the job and bills the customer to himself.  The business address listed for this incident report is 20021 Ballinger Way.

November 13

RECKLESS DRIVING:  A person was caught by police in the 16500 block of Aurora Ave North racing against another vehicle.  The person engaged in reckless driving while driving with a suspended license.  This happened 15 minutes after midnight.

DUI:  At around 1:30am, a suspect was caught driving drunk on a public roadway (16500 block of Aurora Ave North) without a valid operator’s license and without an ID.

LARCENY:  A victim in the 15500 block of Densmore Ave North told police that a suspect smashed the victim’s car window overnight and took items.

VANDALISM at ECHO LAKE ELEMENTARY:  A culprit(s) took a slingshot or something similar to damage school property at 19345 Wallingford Avenue.

LARCENY at COSTCO:  A woman left her personal and professional cell phones in her shopping cart while shopping.  A suspect stole both phones while at 1175 N 205th Street.

LARCENY at ALDERCREST ANNEX:  There was a theft of metal from a demolition site in the 2500 block of NE 200th.

LARCENY, “SMASH & GRAB:” A car was parked in the 15100 block of 1st Ave NE.  A suspect smashed the window of the car and stole items.

LARCENY:  A van was parked in the lot of QFC at 600 NW Richmond Beach Road.  A suspect used a prying tool to open the van door and steals a generator.

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE VIOLATION at SHOREWOOD HIGH SCHOOL:  A young man admitted to smoking an entire blunt and most of a second blunt during lunch.  After that, he went to his 6th period class and smelled strongly of smoking.  Two teachers reported the incident to the security office. 

AUTO THEFT:  A car was stolen from the 20400 block of 25th Ave NE.

VANDALISM at COSTCO:  A woman shared with police that went into the Costco warehouse to do some shopping at close to 2:20pm.  Thirty minutes later, she walked to her car to find that a suspect had used a rock to break the rear window of the car.

MENTAL COMPLAINTS:  A person who lives in an apartment complex in the 1500 block of NE 177th Street was drunk and suicidal.

MORE MENTAL COMPLAINTS:  A woman lives in the 300 block of NE 180th Street.  She was in a fit of rage and threw things around the house.  The staff and other residents of Creative Living felt like they were in danger as the woman continued to break items and other property.  The woman was sent to NW Hospital for treatment.

VANDALISM at SPIN ALLEY:  There was a disturbance after vandalism happened in the 1400 block of NW Richmond Beach Road.
